Access And Display Files From Ftp And The Internet
WebSiteam announced an update of its application for making better FTP browsing experience. The software provides for viewing as well as running files right from FTP. Functions assume showing file related information and packed files insides.
Many of us have encountered disappointment having to download batches of files from FTPs to finally select only a few. Each time it gets really irritating. SmartFTPplayer application can make our lives a bit happier. The concept of that is simple - why not browse FTP directories like your own - meaning that you can run every media file to determine if you want it or not. SmartFTPplayer provides you with the opportunity.
What does the application actually do? If you're connected to FTP you are free to browse within directories arranged in a good old tree structure. The program automatically provides you with the relevant information related to a chosen media file. For example, in case of an mp3 it would be the bitrate and all that musician and album info included in the file, if any. SmartFTPplayer allows you to launch a file previous to downloading it. What's even more intriguing, ...
... you don't have to listen to it from the start. Just move the cursor to any point of the playback bar and push play button. The problem here is that the playback scale is in a percent format. While it is a way easier to find the exact middle of a song or a film, finding that pleasant verse on the minute and thirty fifth second takes a bit longer. With This software you also are able to download only a needed piece of a media file.
Unlike what one may suggest from the title of the software, SmartFTPplayer is not utterly FTP-oriented. The mentioned functions can be used with HTTP also. (The developer might think of altering the title to get rid of confusion.) So, it is fine with the Web too. For the sake of convenience the program places itself in the Internet Explorer mouse menu so you don't have to run it from the desktop or where you preferred to place the icon. Sadly, this doesn't help those using other browsers.
Apart from the above, it's a bit boastful of WebSiteam to actually title the software a ‘player'. The title applies perfectly to playing audio files still when it comes to video it's constantly halting for buffering. Yes, you are able to select the volume of the buffer manually or even disable buffering; however it's better to use the application for previewing videos rather than displaying them.
Altogether, SmartFTPplayer is a handy application for those who are sure what they're searching for, whether they look up on FTP or the Web. Although some may find it requires GUI and functional improvements, in its current condition it's completely operable and functional.
