Deciding to get eye surgery is a big decision and it takes more than just saying ‘I want to have a Kamra eye surgery.’ This is because there are many eye procedures, which are done depending on the eye condition. Some of these procedures can be done for cosmetic needs or to change your vision. Keep in mind that each procedure comes with its own advantages, indications for use and risks. The good thing is that Kamra treatment optilase as well as today’s advancements address almost any eye condition thus providing a successful solution.

Corrective eye surgery: This is the most popular eye surgery. The two most common options of corrective Kamra eye surgery are PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) and LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis). LASIK surgery can correct hyperopia, myopia, and astigmatism thus eliminating independency on corrective lenses. LASIK surgery uses a precision ...
... laser to get rid of corneal tissue and reshaping the cornea to change the focus level. On the other hand, PRK is used mostly if you have thin corneas, which make creating a flap more difficult. Both procedures take an estimated 15 minutes per eye.

Glaucoma surgery: Glaucoma leads to loss of vision and raised intraocular pressure. However, Kamra eye surgery done to treat this condition does not correct vision loss but it can reduce intraocular pressure especially when medication alone is insufficient. This Kamra eye surgery can be performed many times with low risk with the most common glaucoma surgery types being laser and conventional surgery.

Cataract surgery: Cataracts mostly occur in adults over 60 and commonly affects both eyes. Fortunately, they can be removed successfully and safely. This Kamra eye surgery is mostly recommended if you have vision loss that affects your daily life. However, it may be avoided if you have additional eye disease. There are three different approaches to this surgery namely; phacoemulsification extracapsular cataract surgery, and andintracapsular cataract surgery. These methods take less than 30 minutes and usually require minimal sedation. However, the processes and recovery period for each differ.

Orbital surgery: This is indicated for conditions like enucleation, anopthalmia, and evisceration. It is also suitable if you have congenital defects that lead to absent eyes, large eye tumours or if your eye cannot be preserved due to trauma. The surgical approaches used by Kamra eye treatment here include introduction of an orbital implant like the orbital tissue expander, silicone, or bioceramic orbital implants. The implants are mostly used to preserve the natural structure of the eye orbit and for offering support for the placement of an artificial eye.

Lid repair surgery: This Kamra eye surgery is done for both functional and cosmetic reasons to treat droopy eyes, also known as ptosis. If ptosis is left untreated, it can lead to aesthetic ageing, visual incongruence between eyelids or obstruct vision. The surgeries done to correct this condition can include Fasanella-Servat (for mild to moderate cases), frontalis suspension (for severe ptosis), and blepharoplatsy (as a result of ageing).

Eye surgery has become common in today’s society. The advancements have also created a new level of success and safety. Your eye doctor can determine the right solution for you.
