Bangalore To Chikmagalur - Limited Means Of Travel

Bangalore, the capital city of the south Indian city of Karnataka, is famous all over the world for its lush green natural beauty, as well as the numerous industries that have bloomed here. The modern city of Bangalore was founded by Kempe Gowda and it has witnessed unparalleled growth in the recent times in terms of infrastructure and industry. Bangalore is known for its educational institutions, IT parks, scientific research centres, as well as various other industries in the manufacturing sector. It is one of the fastest growing cities of the country. Bangalore enjoys great connectivity to major cities and towns of the country as well as all parts of the world.
Chikmagalur, on the other hand, owes its popularity solely to the growth of tourism industry there. A popular tourist destination of the current times, Chikmagalur enjoys a favourable status in the minds of the tourists travelling to south India. A location famous for its coffee, Chikmagalur is often called the ‘Coffee Land of Karnataka’. In fact, it is in Chikmagalur that the first ever coffee plantation of the country was undertaken.

... from Bangalore to Chikmagalur is around 255 km by road, and it takes around 5 hrs to cover this distance by car. The major towns that fall in the way are Bangalore – 30 km -> Nelamangala - 44 km -> Kunigal - 72 km -> Channarayapatna - 40 km -> Hassan - 47 km -> Belur - 22 km -> Chikmagalur.
Travelling from Bangalore to Chikmagalur is fairly easy as there are many buses that ply between the two places at regular intervals. These buses are operated both by the Government run KSRTC as well as private bus operators. They offer daily services and are a lot cheaper compared to some other modes of travel. This type of travel is recommended for lone travellers, back packers or travellers on a shoestring budget.
As Chikmagalur do not have a railways station of its own, rail travel is not possible to reach from Bangalore to Chikmagalur. If one wishes to travel by train, then one has to board train till Hassan or Kadur and then proceed to Chikmagalur by means of bus or taxi from there.
Chikmagalur do not have any airports as well. Hence air travel is not an option. At the same time, since both the places are situated closely near to each other, hiring a cab or driving down to the destination is a good choice. This mode of transport is preferable while travelling with family consisting of kids and elders. Though a bit costly, travelling by car saves a lot of time and is more convenient for the travellers. The cab charges vary according to the type of vehicle one prefers.
Bangalore to Mantralayam and Bangalore to Rameshwaram also can be tried by the travelers.
