An Insight Into The 1998 Audi A4

The Audi A4 alone revitalized the Audi brand after it faced a big sales drop about two decades ago. The Audi A4 was launched in the mid 90’s and was an instant hit with luxury car buyers thanks to its, attractive looks, Quattro all wheel drive system, well finished interior and-crisp handling. The interior has been given a proper European ambiance thanks to its high-quality materials, tight panel gaps and comfortable seating. The 1998 Audi A4 has an agile ride and a performance that makes it a great choice for those long journeys. The first generation Audi A4 was made on the B5 platform.

The first Audi A was introduced in 1994 and the first generation stayed in production till 2001. A4 was a huge success for Audi as it helped Audi to pit itself against its other German luxury car rivals. This was mainly due to Audi’s impressive styling, its performance, well built interior and its handsome Teutonic looks. These things set a standard for future Audi models. The A4 came mated with a five speed manual gearbox where as its five-speed Tiptronic automatic was an option. The standard ...
... engine was a turbocharged four cylinder which could be upgraded to a naturally aspirated V6. At the beginning, the A4 was only available as a saloon; the Avant was offered in 1998.

The 1998 Audi A4 had all the customary A4 strong points, like all-wheel drive and good looks inside and outside. However, Audi lacked rear legroom and the dashboard was a bit confusing. The engine performance also wasn’t on the same level as its other rivals. It has a top speed of 118mph and combined fuel economy of 29.4mpg. The boot capacity stands at 439litres which is good for a car in this class. These core characteristic were also part of the 1998 Audi A4 and other Audi’s A4 since day one and with the passage of time these have become increasingly polished.

No matter what generation you look at, the Audi A4 will provide sporty performance and a comfortable and attractive cabin. The all wheel drive adds to its appeal as well. It is not hard to see why A4 has become top choice for an entry level luxury car. In 1998, the Audi A4 saloon had a facelift and had a newly developed 2.8L V6 engine and 2.5 L V6 TDI. It also has redesigned front and rear lights as well as restyled door handles.
