Learn More About The Budget-friendly Car, Tata Nano
The year 2008 had a lot of buzz about a new car introduced by the Tata Group. This car was supposed to cost almost as much as a second hand car or buying a pocket friendly auto rickshaw. However, it promised the features of a luxury sedan and efficiency of an SUV. This all-in-one car was none other than The Tata Nano.
Just like its name, the car is small and compact. In fact, it was marketed as being the cheapest car in the world, and promoted as the modern people’s car. Currently, in the country, three different variants of the Nano are available that match different requirements. These are known as Tata Nano Std, Tata Nano CX and Tata Nano LX.
Tata Nano’s specifications about the engine are just great for inland driving. Packed with a two cylinder Bosch multi-point fuel injection all aluminum engine, Nano complies with the Indian emission standards. It is powered by 623 cc, two-cylinder petrol engine, which is mated to a multi-point injection system. The engine is placed at the rear of the car, ...
... unlike in the front like the other cars. It is integrated with 4-speed manual transmission. The car has a great suspension as the front comprises McPherson strut suspension, while the rear consists of independent coil springs. With these two suspension options, there is an improved stability and handling for Nano. It is also capable of attaining the speed of 100 kmph in about 12 seconds.
The base variant of this car is priced at an affordable price of Rs.1.2 lacs to Rs.1.3 lacs which may be little more than getting a brand new motorcycle. The CX model is available in the price range of Rs.1.5 lacs to Rs.1.6 lacs and correspondingly, the price of LX model ranges between Rs.1.8 lacs and Rs.1.9 lacs.
Tata Nano reviews have been good. Once it was promoted as the least expensive production car across the globe, it caught a lot of attention, in fact, car buyers in Indian market tempted to buy it. It received a whopping 5500 bookings within two days of its launch and the numbers kept on increasing. It bagged a number of awards in the first year itself. However, there are were rumors later of malfunction in the engine. These were addressed in the new batch of cars.
