Manali can be reached only by road as the city does not have an airport. The nearest airport to Manali is Bhuntar Airport in Kullu. There are no direct trains to Manali from Shimla. Koti is the nearby station to connect to Shimla. Shimla Kalka Pass connects Shimla to Koti which takes more than four hours.
Bus and taxis are the best mode of transport to travel Shimla to Manali. There are frequent sleeper buses available that take around Rs. 500/- for a trip.
Taxis charge Rs. 5500/- to reach Shimla to Manali. This cab is for four people. For seven people it costs Rs. 7700/- for a round trip.
If you have your own vehicle it takes approximately 8 hours 30 minutesto cover 280 km from Shimla to Manalidepending upon the vehicle.
