Manali, a popular hill station located in the district of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, is a boon to the country. Situated at an altitude of about 1950 m above sea level, Manali is bestowed with natural beauty and snow-capped mountains. The city has a lot of flower and fruit orchards with green and red apples. Shimla, also known as Simla, is a much popular hill station in the northern part of India. Situated at an altitude of 2,205 m above sea level, Shimla, also known as the 'Queen of Hill Stations', is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla was the former summer destination for the British during their rule. The wonderful climate, fruit and flower plants, the snow-capped mountains and evergreen valleys attract the tourists to this paradise city. Manali can be reached only by road as the city does not have an airport. The nearest airport to Manali is Bhuntar Airport in Kullu. There are no direct trains to Manali from Shimla. Koti is the nearby station to connect to Shimla. Shimla Kalka Pass connects Shimla to Koti which takes more than four hours.
Bus and taxis are the best mode of transport to travel Shimla to Manali. There are frequent sleeper buses available that take around Rs. 500/- for a trip.
Taxis charge Rs. 5500/- to reach Shimla to Manali. This cab is for four people. For seven people it costs Rs. 7700/- for a round trip.
If you have your own vehicle it takes approximately 8 hours 30 minutesto cover 280 km from Shimla to Manalidepending upon the vehicle.
