Believe it or not, Slovenia was well ahead of the tourism that grapples Europe today before World War II. In fact, before the war, Rogla, Slovenia catered to both summer and winter tourism, with a panoramic viewing tower built in the early 1930s.

After the war and aftermath, many parts of Rogla had to be rebuilt. With the ensuing facelift, Rogla got a widened road and ski lifts, capable of carrying nearly 1,000 people per hour. In the 1970s, Rogla got smart and combined the skiing with the spa resort, and with the erection of hotels and a sport center, tourism hasn't waned since. With lift improvements, new snow cannons and bigger hotels, Rogla can today handle several thousand skiers per hour.

Currently, Rogla Slovenia is christened by a new name, the Rogla Olympic and Ski Center. The reason for this revision is simple-Rogla can now cater to super athletes and those sportspersons who are in training for competition. The Rogla Olympic and Ski Center, therefore, can provide a year-round climate that caters to athletes of every caliber. Plus, less than 20 km away is the Zrece Health Resort, where athletes and couch ...
... surfers alike can get pampered in the thermal springs, saunas, solariums and swimming pools. With all that it has to offer, Rogla ski resort in Slovenia has been a part of the FIS and European Cup games for over ten years. There is even a climbing wall, gymnasium, pool, and a roller coaster bobsled ride. Rogla is for the athlete, the individual and especially for the family.

Rogla is fairly convenient to reach if you and your family are considering coming this ski holiday season. From Ljubljana or Zagreb, you can get here in less than 130 km; from Maribor or Celje, you can get here in less than 60 km; while coming from Rijeka will take you the longest distance at 220 km. There is an airport less than two hours away. The altitude ranges from 1050 meters to 1517 meters with all the apres ski venues you can shake a stick at. There are shops, restaurants, bars, discos for the night owls and pools, saunas, whirlpools, massages, tennis, squash, bowling, ping-pong, and a fitness center for the energetic crowd. Rogla offers Alpine skiing, carving, snowboarding, a snow boarder's park and telemark skiing.

Rogla caters to those especially who come for the ski slopes, however. The ski seasons guarantees a magic number of 100 snowy days of skiing-not bad given the lower altitude of the resort. Of course, the snow is made by both God and man; a combination of natural and artificial snow covering the slopes most of the ski period. There are over 100 ha of ski slopes for all levels of skiers, from beginners to experts. There is 1.5 km of expert trails, over 8 km of intermediate trails, two kilometers of beginner trails and almost 20 km of cross-country trails. The runs break down to 3 black runs, 4 red and blue runs, and 2 green runs served by 13 ski lifts with the max vertical set at 450 meters. The lifts can now carry twelve times the number of skiers per hour as back in 1970 (near 13,000 skiers per hour).

The price for you and your family to ski in Rogla Slovenia is a considerably nice deal. Though the prices for the low season are a few Euros less, the prices given here are for the high season, generally starting on the 16th of December until the 31st of April. Daily ski passes for children and adults cost €18 and €28. A three day ski pass will run between €50 and €75, while a six day ski pass will save you some money at €87 and €134 for children and adults. A season pass to Rogla Slovenian ski resort will cost anywhere from €300 to €450 for a child and an adult, should you be so lucky to live close by. If you plan on coming on sequential days from the 16th of December to the 5th of January, you and you child can buy a ski pass for €120 to €160.You'll need a picture for most long-term ski passes.
