Risk Factors Of Dvt
Deep Venous Thrombosis, or DVT for short, occurs when a blood clot forms in a deep vein. There are several reasons as to why DVT may occur in the body. Simply not allowing blood to comfortably flow through your body at all times can easily cause DVT. Constant or long-term immobility and obesity are two common things that hinder the circulation of blood in the body. People, who are forced to sit in one place for a long period of time, possibly for school or work, should take the time to stretch their bodies and keep blood circulating. Simply keeping your body active can help you avoid any sort of blood clotting. Injuries to major limbs and joints, such as the knee or the hip, can also cause blood-flow to significantly slow down to certain areas of the body because of the trauma experienced by that particular limb or joint. For example, if someone has just undergone surgery on their knee, their lower leg will be vulnerable to DVT because the swelling of the kneecap is causing blood to flow through it at a pace much slower than usual. It is also common for people to inherit vulnerability to the formation of blood clots simply because ...
... of genetics. Cancer of any form has also been known to increase the chance of suffering from DVT. Other sicknesses and negative influences to the body are known to onset clotting as well. It is smart to avoid smoking and for women, certain brands of birth control medicine. Basically, anything that may negatively affect the body can make the body's ability to circulate blood much less efficient, which in turn can onset DVT.
Some forms of DVT are very easy to recognize. Many of the symptoms are actually very visual and physical. A swollen limb that is very tender and warm is a very common sign of a blood clot. Though it is impossible to pinpoint the exact vein where the blood is stagnating, you can at least tell the limb or area in which blood flow has reached a low point. Other noticeable symptoms of DVT are having difficulty ambulating and feeling heavy or tightness in your leg. DVT does not constantly affect everybody at the same rate. Some people who suffer from DVT may notice their blood stagnating very quickly, in that the swelling occurred over the period of only a few days. Some cases, however, can affect the body slowly over a long period of time. These cases are more dangerous, because the actual issue takes much longer to notice. If a person does not know they are suffering from DVT, they will not know that they need to be better to their body until they have already suffered significantly. It is smart to recognize any problem with the body, no matter how minor, as quickly as possible. By recognizing the problem right away and making the necessary changes and or decisions in order to advance your health and get to the root of the cause.
