Travelling alone can be an intimidating thought, and it’s so easy for many prospective holidaymakers to presume that they have to bring someone along, whether it’s a city break or indeed, a ski holiday that they have in mind. In truth, though, it may be the best option – and even types of vacation that are especially popular with groups, such as activity holidays, can offer plenty to the single traveller.

The latter type of holiday, for example, offers a wide range of activities that provide a lot of opportunity to meet and make friends with others. Such activities tend to include mountain biking, walking, climbing, tennis, swimming and white water rafting, which offer travellers an invigorating and healthy alternative to the stereotypical lazy beach holiday. Nor do the activities on offer strictly have to be physical, as many resorts offer top class restaurants, bars, shops and cultural and historical sites, making for a well-rounded break.

But of course, the exact resorts in question that are chosen have a great influence on the quality of adventure holidays. Whichever part of the world the single traveller ...
... opts for when setting out on activity holidays, they will probably appreciate a charming, picturesque and well-equipped resort that is also reasonably affordable. The ideal resort is likely to be one that has pretty streets and jaw-dropping mountain scenery to provide a decent amount of visual stimulation, while also offering all of the basic facilities that would be expected of any good holiday destination.

The Alps, for example, offer many enticing resorts for adventure holidays, including the continent’s largest mountain biking destination, Morzine Les-Gets, as well as the enthralling mountain town of Chamonix, where Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc, can be found. Other popular resorts in this part of the world include Tignes and Vassiliki, all offering their own distinct virtues to attract single holidaymakers of a wide range of tastes.
