In our current Recession and especially now that the Holiday Season is hard upon us, businesses need to, no they must, think outside the box and start today thinking how they can add value to everything they sell.

The buying public will still make purchases and spend their earnings because that is what has been ingrained into their subconscious minds since the day they were born (some experts say this process starts even before they are born). Since our minds are 1/6 conscious and 5/6 subconscious and since the conscious works only when we are awake while our subconscious works 24/7, it is by far the most influential part of our mind.

How are most businesses going about making the sale? They are offering discounts, sometimes huge discounts. That is NOT thinking outside the box. People are used to and expect to get discounts especially in a tough market. Businesses must add highly perceived value to make the sale.

For example, if you are selling a table marked at $299, don't discount it 30%. Instead discount it 15% and add value to the purchase by giving them $300 in free gas or groceries. Your net ...
... profit on the sale is the same. However, you will make a lot more sales. Your customer will think, I got this table for free because I received more in free groceries than I paid. Boy did I make a killing. I had better tell my friends about this.

If your sales are already very good, then you can use the same concept in your up-sells. For example, a car dealer sells a new Toyota Camry and makes a small profit. They can then sell enhanced features for the Camry that cost $797. The sales person can offer $500 in free gas when the customer buys the enhanced feature. Everyone likes to receive more than they expected and getting $800 in enhanced features (that they really wanted but couldn't justify in their minds). Now they can justify the add-on because it actually only cost them $300.

Well, you get the idea. With a little brain storming you can come up with many ways to add value to your products or services.

Businesses will be offering the consumer more value for their dollar and value is more important than a few dollars saved. Actually the business owner will be offering the consumer great value as well as a way to save more money than they may spend. It's a win-win for the business and the consumers.

Shoppers will feel good about spending money this holiday season. Businesses will show a favorable ROI. In addition, business owners and their customers will be able to help feed the hungry while receiving great tax write-offs.

Below are some ways businesses are using this program:
If your business is such that your closing ratio is good for the number of people who walk through your doors then you might want to give the $100 certificates just for them visiting your business or taking a test drive in one of your vehicles.
Or for every purchase between $100 and $300 they will receive $250 in free gas or groceries.
Or make them an offer they can't refuse that will provide you a solid ROI based on your profit numbers.

You can give certificates to your employees as a Christmas bonus and save hundreds in expenses and they will love you for it.

Side Bar: For Internet Marketers and Network Marketers this is a great tool to make more money. In addition to giving e-books as bonuses, give them something that they can really use. For example, if they spend $100, give them $100 in free gas or groceries (decide what to offer them in relation to your profit margins). When someone realizes they are really getting your product for free they won't mind the exchange.

For network marketers, when someone joins your business give them the same value in free gas or groceries that they invested in joining you.

Customers can then use some of their certificates for themselves and give some to the food banks as a donation and use them as a tax write-off. The ideas are limited only by your imagination.

Bruce Davis with Bellastanza Furniture stated This Gas Promotion is the best closing tool I have used in a long time.

Russell Rye of Rye Furniture commented, Sold $18,756.00 of furniture on 11 gas certificates. This program works!

So make this holiday season one that you will always remember - helping others while receiving great value - providing a win-win scenario for businesses and their customers - obtaining solid tax write-offs - increasing bottom line's in a time when most businesses will be struggling just to keep their doors open.
