The tools that are to be used should be expertly handled and the surgeons before applying their knowledge to their patients are first taught by numerous practicals and experiments the proper method of using each and every instrument. A perfect utilization of the tool that is the scissors is basically used for cutting purposes but these are not generally used for dissection of the living tissue. It can only be used for the general use of the cutting procedure. The correct surgical instrument for dissection is the scalpel which is sharp and is perfectly shaped for the ease of cutting the skin and other soft tissues.

The dilating instruments are used to expand the size of the natural openings of the body. Retractors are other types that help in clearing the visibility of the area of surgery by cleaning the body fluids. Similarly, the suctiondevices continuouslyclear fluid and blood from the area of surgery for better visualization. Before beginning with the surgery it is the responsibility of the operation staff to check the working order of the surgical instrumentsto be used in the surgery. The sharp instruments should firstbe checked numerous times before beginning the whole procedure. The instruments should also be sterilized before beginning the work. Another important aspect is that the number of instruments and tools that are involved during the surgery should be counted to ensure the fact that no surgical tool is left within the body before the closure of any wound.

The surgical instruments are commonly misused by the surgeons due to lack of expertise or maybe due tomisjudgment of any procedure. This causes the alignment problems of the body tissues and organs and it results in various types of problems to the patient. Hence, all the instruments should be checked a number of times by the surgical team just to ensure a smooth operation. The instruments such as scissors should be very smooth and sharp and in perfect order. Also the life of the instruments should also be monitored regularly so that aninoperabletool must not be employed. The people involved in the testing and checking of the surgical instrumentsshould be very responsible and expert. If certainimpairmentis found in any of the tools it must be sent to the repair center instantly. The sterilizing methods provided for the tools should be employed such as boiling, hot air oven, autoclaving and some other gaseous disinfection methods.
