Looking To Avoid An Email Blacklist? Check Your Email Campaign's Reputation

If you send email, you have a reputation which helps determine whether or not the email will make it to your recipient's inbox. Fortunately, many of the steps you take to improve your reputation as a sender will also build your email lists with active subscribers and boost your email response rates. There are 3 major factors in boosting your reputation to prevent 90% of failed email delivery issues: bounces, backlash, and blacklists.
Bounces are the emails that never make it to their intended recipients. It may be a hassle to remove these remnants of failed email delivery from your email list, but many ISPS (internet service providers) consider the "cleanliness" of your email list when gauging your credibility as a sender. To help prevent your business from being added to an email blacklist, check your email list regularly for bounces and email addresses that have requested to be removed from your list. This will clean up your email lists.
As far as backlash is concerned, did you know that complaints can lessen email deliverability by as much as 70 percent? This means that your integrity as a sender in the eyes ...
... of your recipients really matters. Every time an email recipient clicks the "spam" button, it affects your email delivery rating. To avoid being marked as spam, send regular emails to subscribers-at least monthly- to keep them familiar with seeing your company's name in their inbox. Carefully craft your email subject lines, compelling the recipient to open them. Avoid excessive use of exclamation marks, do not use the word "free" in conjunction with an exclamation mark, and use capital letters conservatively to avoid appearing like spam to recipients and ISPs. To lessen your chances of appearing like spam even more, run email copy and subject lines through spam filtering software before sending your email. Delivery will be much more effective if you've already isolated spam-like words and phrases and removed them.
Regularly run an email blacklist check to see if your address has been placed on an email blacklist. If you find you are on a list, see the specific email blacklist's protocol for information on how to get removed from the list. Monitoring email blacklists and doing everything you can to be removed from them will dramatically increase your email deliverability. Many companies now exist that can monitor your reputation as an email sender and provide consultation services to help repair and maintain your reputation and increase email deliverability.
