Just before the River card is played, if there are only two players still in the round of poker, they show their cards. This is the showdown in which the River card will determine a winner. Whichever German player has the best hand after this card is dealt is the winner of that round. if there is a tie, which rarely happens, then the players split the pot equally.

One of the main decisions of any round of Texas HoldEm poker is deciding whether or not you have good cards after the flop. Along with learning the rules of the game, you also have to learn how to read the board to determine your pot odds and to read the other players. Players do sometimes have specific actions you can pick up when you play with the same ones for a period of time that will tell you whether they feel they have a winning hand or if they are just bluffing. At any of the betting times during the game, if you feel you have the winning hand, you can go all in. This will force the other players who also feel they have a good hand to match your bet if they want to stay in the game.
