Two-factor authentication is a kind of security process in which the user needs to provide two measures of identification. One can be something like a physical token, such as a card, and the other one is something that can be memorized, like a password or security code. This means you need two factor authentication process that something you have (a card) and something you know (a code). Both of these are important in order to ensure the security of a certain place or matter. Often this is also known as 2FA authentication process.

There are several places where this two factor authentication process is required to prevent any kind of fake entry. For example, banks and locker rooms require this type of authentication process where the users must have a card and need to remember a certain Personal Identification Number or PIN code. The card act as the physical token and the PIN code is the data that the user needs to memorize. Without any of these 2fa, user cannot get entry to his account or volt.

This type of security measure is significant and essential to reduce the ...
... occurrences of online identity theft. An online thief or hacker cannot hack or steal your bank account or other valuables only by knowing the password. The password is not enough to get easy and free access to the confidential information of the user. Hence two factor authentication makes the job of a thief or a hacker tougher in many ways.

However, there are hackers who have invented the way to corrupt the 2FA authentication process. If they get your computer they can skip the physical token authentication process and get the password by scanning your device. In such cases, two factor authentication will not be enough for you. This is the reason why some entities bring three factor authentication processes for their users, which involves voiceprint or finger scanning along with the other two authentication processes.
