The smallest Union Territory of India is Lakshadweep, which is located in the Arabian Sea. Lakshadweep is a group of 36 islands, coral atolls and coral reefs and it falls under the jurisdiction of Kerala High Court. Kavaratti is the capital of this Union Territory and it is indeed a very popular and favorite tourist destination.

Where is Lakshadweep
The beauty of this place is mainly because of the tall green coconut palms, tranquil waters of the lagoons, exotic underwater marine life and some very beautiful virgin beaches. One can usually get to see dolphins, turtles, tuna, rays and flying fish. The main islands of Lakshadweep are Agatti, Amini, Minicoy and Kavaratti. The main language spoken here is Malayalam, Jeseri and Mahl.
About Lakshadweep
You can find people only in ten of the Lakshadweep islands and more than half of the native population is Muslim. Kavaratti, the capital of Lakshadweep is also the administrative ...
... headquarter and the most developed island. Some of the attractions of this island are the Ujra mosque, marine aquarium, beaches and water sports. The largest lagoon among the islands is Kalpeni and this lagoon is great for water sports like kayaking and boating. Located in southern Lakshadweep is the island of Minicoy which resembles the culture of Maldives.
The only populated island where tourists are free to go is Bangaram. Two world class SCUBA diving schools have been started in Lakshadweep islands, one at Agatti Island and the other at Bangaram Island. The economy of this place is dependent on activities like fishing, coconut cultivation and coir twisting. Tourism also forms a major part of the economy. An entry permit is required for a tourist if they wish to visit Lakshadweep and this permit is issued at Kochi. There are different rules for entry when it comes to foreign nationals and they are allowed only in Kadmat, Bangaram and Agatti islands. Lakshadweep has a tropical climate and rainfall is medium to heavy during May to mid-September.
What to Do
The main reason people visit Lakshadweep is because of the breathtakingly beautiful scenery that includes magnificent lagoons, silver seashores, never ending sandy beaches, lush green palm trees and wonderful aquatic flora and fauna. When in Lakshadweep people never miss to experience the world class water sports available here like sailing, kayaking, paddleboats, glass bottom boats, inflatable motorboats, and water skiing which are easily available in the islands of Kavaratti, Kadamat, Kalpeni and Minicoy.
Getting There
Agatti is well connected to Kochi by air and sea. In fact Agatti is the only airport in Lakshadweep. Few passenger ships are organized by the Lakshadweep Administration from Kochi to Lakshadweep, which gives a wonderful chance to sail through the Arabian Sea.
