These types of stains usually happen after Halloween parties where you have taped all sorts of stuff to your clothes to have a great looking costume. Adhesive tape doesn't do that much damage if it's removed soon after you have taped your clothes. But if it's left for quite a while it will leave a hard to remove sticky residue that looks quite terrible. But don't worry in this article we'll talk about easy and safe ways for removing such stains.

Cleaning experts state that depending on the fabric and the tape that has been used these sort of stains might not come out with washing and you'll have to use another cleaning method.

For removing the sticky residue we will need some kind of a lubricant (like WD-40). Apply a thing layer of lubricant on the stained surface. It's best to be precise with the product and not get it all over your garment just on the soiled surface. Once you have applied it leave it to sit for a couple of minutes to allow the lubricant to penetrate the stain (10 minutes should be quite sufficient). Take an iron and ...
... set it to a low heat setting. Wait a few minutes for it to reach the required temperature. While the iron is heating take a paper towel and dab the area to remove the excess cleaning product. Afterwards, place a paper towel over the stained surface and run the iron over it. The heat from the iron will melt the sticky residue and the lubricant will help it release from the fabric. Change the paper towels frequently while you keep ironing the clothes to prevent the stain from transferring back into the garment. Once you see there is almost no transfer on the paper towel take another clean one and wipe the stain. The sticky residue should be gone already and a normal wash cycle will remove the leftover lubricant from the clothing.

I hope this cleaning procedure works for you and you'll have a sticky residue free garment. And remember that if you are living in Australia and you need cleaning services, the cleaners offering home cleaning in Melbourne are always ready to help you.
