Communication technology and Media has come a long way revolutionizing human lives in many ways. As a result of these, boundaries are redefined and the whole world community has become one single entity now.. So, mass communication play an important role here and it is overwhelmingly popular as a career now a days. We can define mass communication as the process of transmission of messages to general masses with the help of mass media such as radio, television, newspaper etc.Simply, it is the process of communicating with the masses through various media. The media has to be powerful so that it can reach upto a large number of masses.

Mass communication is not restricted to journalism alone. It can be applied to a number of allied professions, thereby opening up many avenues . So, job chances are higher in this field. Professionals having a degree in mass com can have a career in public relations,films and T.V.,editing, direction, publication etc. Mass comm is a broader discipline, many things come under its wing.

Mass communication courses normally cost higher. An undergraduate course can charge between Rs 60,000 ...
... to Rs 2, 00,000 per year. P.G. diploma courses are quite popular involving expenses from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1,00,000  per year. Scholarship are existed in this field. Courses are available at all levels, though a post graduate degree can help you to go an extra mile in this field.

While pursuing a career in mass comm, it is very important to keep a check on the quality and ranking of the institute you are going to join. Students from renowned institutes can have very good placement after completion of course. Average institutes cannot offer good placement, so later students have to work very hard to get established.

Much like the demand for this profession, salaries are excellent in the field. Initially, it can be between Rs 12,000 and 25,000, after experience it will increase enormously.

After the arrival of different news channels, job prospects get doubled in this field. Large media groups BBC,ABC, IBN offer jobs at various levels . The only skill needed in this field is excellent command over English language. Depth of knowledge is also very much required.
