Subaru Justy Is An Entry Level Supermini With Top End Kit

The Subaru Justy is an entry level supermini which is economical on fuel and low on carbon emissions. Most of us still remember the 80’s Justy that was the only all wheel drive supermini at the time. The 90’s Justy was based on the Suzuki Swift and was also all wheel drive. The Justy was ditched by Subaru in the late nineties. In 2008, the all new Justy was launched that has nothing in similar to the old Justy apart from the name. The new Justy shares its chassis with Daihatsu Sirion. It is not an all-wheel-drive car anymore instead it is front driven. Instead of the Subaru’s “boxer” engine the new Justy is powered by the Toyota’s 1.0 litre petrol engine-same as the Toyota Yaris, Aygo, Citroen C1 and Pegueot 107.

The cabin is impressively spacious with a surprising legroom thanks to the 60:40 seats. The reasonable legroom doesn’t mean that the comfort has been compromised, the seats are very accommodating and comfortable so no fear of cramps when travelling long distances. The front seats design gives a sporty look. The interior has decent ...
... amount of smartly designed cubby holes. The fascia reminds you of the Vauxhall Agila as it shares the same deep curve between the air vents. The passenger side gets an enclosed cubby for storage. The central console is brushed to give aluminium effect. It hosts the CD/radio and climate control dials. Overall the cabin feels light and airy.

The Justy comes with a decent amount of kit including power windows, anti-lock brake system, alloys, air con, remote central locking and auxiliary input. The safety features include six airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors and parking sensors. Most of the rivals don’t offer that many features as standard. The long travel suspension and 65 profile tyres give Justy a responsive ride. The negative point is the engine noise that rumbles just like a tractor, the gear box is whiny and there is a constant noise coming from underneath the dashboard which adds to the annoying resonance and you get a feeling that you are sitting on the bonnet of a diesel engine due to all this noise.

The Justy is equipped with a 3-cylinder 12 valve engine with Dynamic Variable Valve Timing (DVVT) with five speed manual gear box. It returns a fuel economy of 56.5mpg with 118g/km of carbon emissions keeping the UK road tax costs low and qualifies for the only £35 yearly London Congestion charge as falls under the 120g/km threshold. The Subaru Justy comes with five years or 60,000 miles warranty. Subaru also throws in a 5 year UK and European roadside assistance and a 12 year anti perforation warranty. All of these warranties mean buyers can opt for the Justy with confidence. Subaru limits the yearly Justy sales to 1000 units/year, therefore it also enjoys strong residual value.
