Learning New Language Made Easy
Many a times, the scenes in movies wherein suddenly the actor in lead role speaking in English talks in Spanish and German to native of that country, quite amaze me. They follow the script and roles so well that German, French or Spanish they speak seems as they have known the language for long enough.
Knowing a different language allows you to blend in undetected in another country. You can enjoy exchanging jokes in foreign language. Above all you may not need any interpreter or translation dictionary to enjoy a supper with country men at the other part of world.
All this seems so novelistic but ask me. Apart from English, learning a language foreign to your origin is some task. Six months back inspired by such movies and driven by my passion to learn a different language I started learning French. Though I was interested in German but advised by my German translator friend it was better to start with French.
According to him German and Spanish seems to be difficult for beginners like me who are taking an endeavor to learn a new language. Provided you specifically want to be German English translator. ...
... When I asked, “how about Chinese”? He frankly advised me not to pay attention to it, it’s the hardest one.
So finally I gave into French. Now the state is I know the basic but if suddenly I am in France I would be just speculating the words, translating them in my mind and thinking of answers. Ask me. Learning a new language is not an easy job. I also tried English to french translation softwares while I was learning. But they are of little help. These provide a rough translation and you have to be satisfied with a rough mechanized translation than no translation. Accuracy of such translations highly differs with the original.
Still on my way of learning I collected a few points which could make language learning simple.
Constant effort is what required. Daily dose of new language and using it is the first step. Your lethargic attitude would never allow you to be learned in that language.
Words, words and words. Yes the more words you learn half of your language is learnt. Again using them in writing or reading is must. Image association is a very good technique to learn words. Think about your kinder garden school how you learned new words.
Give practical hands on approach. Learn essentials first which are universally accepted and those which forms core of basic conversation.
Do not try to have perfectionist attitude as learning has a progressive momentum.
Good resources to practice the language as joining the language course website, speaking to natives online, books.
A language has to be looked as something more than a list of grammar rules and words. Taking it as a backyard project, use it constantly for communication.
