Haryana is a landlocked state in North India and one of the wealthiest agrarian states in the country. This state was split from Punjab in 1966.

This North Indian state borders Delhi on three sides and so is part of the National Capital Region. Besides Delhi, the state shares borders with Punjab, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. The Yamuna River divides the state from Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
About Haryana
Haryana State was formed in 1966; it was carved out of Punjab state. The state has a mainly agrarian economy, and it is believed to have the largest number of rural millionaires in India. Lately, Haryana is also becoming increasingly urbanized with Gurgaon becoming a major industrial hub. Haryana is home to the largest two-wheeler and Car Manufacturing Units. MarutiUdyog and Hero MotorCorp are both located in Gurgaon.

Haryana Culture
Haryana is one of the sites of the Indus Valley Civilization. It has a continuous history of the Vedic culture. This state contains Kurukshetra, the venue of the Mahabharata War, where Sri Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita. The city of Panipat has been the venue of many decisive battles in India’s History.
Haryana is mainly a Hindu region, but like all other states in India, it is also multi-cultural, with a sizeable Muslim and Christian population. The main language is Haryanvi, followed closely by Punjabi.
Places to See
Haryana has a rich cultural heritage dating back to the ancient Vedic period. This is highlighted by the cultural tourism of the state which covers places like Kurukshetra, Thaneshwar and Jyotisar. The Yamuna River, which is very holy to the Hindus, forms the eastern border of the State. The legendary subterranean Saraswati River is believed to have flowed down from Yamuna Nagar in this state, though the River has long since dried up.
Other places worth visiting in Haryana are the Eleventh Century SurajKund Reservoir, the Badhkal Lake in Faridabad, the famous Sulphur Springs of Sohna, Morni Hills and the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary.
Haryana experiences extremely hot summers and very cold winters. The monsoon months from July to September witnesses heavy rains especially in the Shivalik Hills region. October to March would be the best time to visit Haryana.
How to Reach Haryana
Haryana is very near the country’s capital, Delhi, so it is very easy to reach Haryana from all regions in India.The major airport in Haryana is at Chandigarh. This airport is well connected to major cities of India. Besides this The Indira Gandhi international Airport of New Delhi is also close to Haryana.
Chandigarh is also the major rail head of the state. The four major railway stations of Delhi are also within easy reach from Haryana.This landlocked state has a good network of roads and is connected on major state and national highways.
