About Chandigarh
Chandigarh is undisputedly considered the best planned city in India. The city is known for its robust and well planned architecture. Chandigarh is one of the few cities in India that has managed to ensure seamless blending of urban development and ensure maintenance gardens, parks and ecosystems. It is for this reason it popularly referred to as the green city of India.
The local population is ...
... mostly from the states of Punjab and Haryana. There is a lot of Sikh and Punjabi community that forms the dominant part of the native population. Many migratory birds from Siberia and Japan are seen in the area. Sukhnalake alone sees a wide range of migratory birds along with ducks and geese. Bird watching is then one activity that tourists can look forward to in Chandigarh.
Best time to visit the city is from mid-February to mid-March and then from mid-September to mid-October. The climate during this period is very pleasant allowing tourists a cool resting place. The summers are extremely hot and tourists prefer to stay in Shimla.
