A firework is an explosive device that produces light and fire when it is combusted. Outcome of all fireworks and explosives is the production of light and fire. The use of high quality explosive and fireworks makes the sky look shinny and bright even in dark nights. With the use of explosives such as sky lanterns, firework tubes and skyrocket, we can celebrate all of our important events and occasions in perfection. The journey of explosives has changed rapidly from the past to current times.

When we look at the history, we found that China was the first country that used paper or bamboo tubes filled with grourid charcoal and sulfur for producing fire and smoke. Almost two thousand years ago, China made its first explosive. Fireworks became more explosive and powerful when saltpeter was added with their mixture for the purpose of creating black powder. Black powder is also considered as the first chemical explosive made by China. It is still used as the ideal raw material for all sorts of fireworks and guns.

These days, fireworks became bigger, more powerful and dangerous. They are used for different purposes ...
... and have been divided into three different categories of explosives such as A, B and C. Class A belongs to dangerous substances whereas class B is used for the purpose of professional displays. In the same manner, the third and last class called ‘C’ belongs to smaller fireworks used and preferred for the private use. Explosives such as cherry bombs, M-80s and silver salutes are banned by the government for personal use owing to the high level of danger and causality.

In modern fireworks, it is nothing but the shell made of plastic and paper that contains black powder and mortar. Materials such as iron, aluminum, plastic or cardboard are used for making mortar. It is the black powder the guides an explosive to go up higher in the sky. An amalgamation of salt-peter, charcoal and sulfur in an adequate ratio gives birth to black powder. Fuel such as charcoal, dextrin and red gum, coloring agents consisting of aluminum, magnesium, titanium , iron, sodium, copper, strontium carbonate and barium nitrate and oxidizers including potassium or ammonium perchlorate are responsible for making modern fireworks. For producing smoke, sugar is used as a fuel that burns a firework. To make a good quality explosive that is safe and secure, it is necessary that it should have an accurate ratio of explosive materials.
