Here is a quick list of techniques and tips on how you can create an advanced game plan for your website:

1. Search Engine Optimization - Getting free rankings in search engines by optimizing your website to be more search engine friendly and growing. Make sure your site is w3 validated and handicapped-accessible. Make sure your site is also easy to navigate.

2. Use Affiliate Marketing To Create an Internet Sales Team - Affiliate marketing is the approach of having a commission based sales team. They only get paid when they sell products. Affiliate marketing is huge; how huge? Did you know 80% of internet traffic is porn related? Did you know that 95% of that traffic is affiliate marketing traffic?

3. Create a Free Offer on your site to get leads - Everyone loves something free so give away a free e-book or some great inside information and watch how many people refer you traffic, leads, or sales.

4. Analyze weekly if not daily to measure the cost to acquire a lead - You have to have an advanced website traffic monitor tool like Urchin, AwStats, or Google Analytics, which is my personal preference. ...
... You should be able to distinguish which parts of your website are performing well, what is not working, and where your best converting traffic is coming from.

5. Research the competition and stay 4 steps ahead of them - You have to always monitor your competition, try to think ahead of them, and what is the future direction of your industry. A great way for this is to get constant user feedback.

6. Use A/B Split Testing to test page layouts and improve conversions - By testing page layouts you can find what elements of your website are working and those that are not. This technique allowed me to go from 2% to over 19% conversion rate for overall website traffic on one of my websites. If you don't do anything else, do this.

7. Use Low Cost or Free Internet Press Releases to generate awareness for your business - There are tons of places that allow you to utilize free internet press releases, and even low cost ones. Find and submit to them monthly news and events that your company is involved in.

8. Create a Newsletter to give visitors news and tips about your services and products - First, don't spam your subscribers with your products, keep up-selling them. Give them great advice and techniques (kind of like I am doing right now), and they will keep your company in the forefront of their mind.

9. If applicable, use Social Media websites to expand your brand's presence and message - Some companies just shouldn't have MySpace pages; then again there are those that cannot survive without them. You need to understand if this audience is for you and how you can utilize them. This goes for Facebook, YouTube, Digg, and others.

10. Get feedback from your customers and website visitors - Ask your visitors if they have any improvement suggestions for your website. Trust me, if a customer has a complaint, they will let you know. You should respond to these changes and thank them always for their suggestions.
