Shopping Online For Kippah Or Kippot In New York Or Los Angeles
Every religion or culture has several symbolic dress codes that signify special meanings. In most of the religions or cultures, there is the case of some kind of head cover or skullcap. In Judaism or Jewish tradition, this is called the Kippah. It is also known as the Kippot or Yarmulke. So what is the special meaning that this head cover signifies? There are primarily two reasons, which are quite simple and straightforward indeed, as to why the Kippot is worn. The first reason is obvious – this head gear helps to distinguish the Jewish from the rest of the religious groups. This was in fact historically made mandatory by Christian churches at one point of time. Anyway, it has since become almost a mandatory part of the traditional Jewish attire among orthodox Jewish people. The second meaning that is meted out through this head cap is love, affection and respect to God. It shows that the Jewish person wearing the Kippah is devoted to his religion and is faithful to the Jewish God.
So why is it mandatory to orthodox Jewish? It must mean that its reference is there ...
... in the holy text of the Jewish religion, as is the case with almost every religion out there which has one or more holy and sacred religious texts. Indeed, that is the case. The Talmud is the holy text of the Jewish religious tradition and it contains a number of references to the Yarmulke or the Kippah. Different kinds of people wear it in different times. Those who have become more progressive and liberal in matters of religion or tradition wear the Kippah only sparingly and whenever they feel like. Others wear the Kippah on special or selected occasions, like when reading something or attending a praying session or visiting some holy place etc. For the libertarians, there is no pressure of wearing the Kippah all the time. But for the conservatives, like in all other religions of the world, it is absolutely a must to wear the Kippah at all times.
Interestingly, even the question of gender equality in modern Jewish traditional society is associated with that of the Kippah. Women were never really required to wear the Kippah in the past. But with gradual modernization and liberalization of the Jewish tradition, like other traditions of the world, the women were looked upon as equals or near equals and this is why they too started wearing the Kippah whenever they wanted.
There are many Jewish people residing in the United States of America and as such, there are online as well as real time shops in the country where the Kippah is available. So if you are looking to buy a Kippah from New York or Los Angeles, you have the option of buying online from a Kippah New York or Kippah Los Angeles shop. There are several such online Kippah stores these days, which offer a wide variety of Kippah made from satin, leather or other materials. More importantly, they come in different sizes, shapes and colors as well, so as to suit different tastes.
