The toner is a proportioned mixture of carbon, polyester, and iron particles which does the job of ink. While carbon provides the outline of the image and polyester helps the toner flow from the cartridge to the paper, it is finally the iron particles that make the toner react to the electrical charges and finally help it to melt into the paper. The print drum is the photosensitive cylinder that holds electromagnetic charge before being exposed to light but when exposed, loses its charge.
