Americans Dying For Healthcare

Americans today are dying for healthcare- literally! Did you know that there are everyday people like you and me, who are losing their lives every day due to a lack of health insurance coverage? Of course you know! The question is whether you care. If you do not care, shame on you.

Obviously you do care if you're reading this, though. Most of us do care. Most people who have health insurance and take it for granted, forget that there are people, even our own neighbors, whose health is deteriorating because they cannot be checked up on or treated.

Did you know that there are working Americans who make too much to qualify for government healthcare assistance, but do not make enough to afford out of pocket healthcare? And did you know that many of these people work hard every day to provide for their families and yet are not offered health insurance by their employer?

This is the sad reality of our society today. Imagine someone having cancer, and not even having the healthcare coverage to be diagnosed. This could be a friend of yours, even a family member. Imagine now, that person dying suddenly ...
... one day and finding out that their death was preventable.

Cancer is just one example; there are countless life-threatening health conditions that can ultimately be terminal if left untreated, but which are preventable with proper treatment.

So what is wrong with us, America? Why is it that this is our reality and yet we haven't passed a law to provide healthcare for everyone? Are we worried about the few minor disadvantages that might occur as a result of a socialized system?

If so, shame on us. Those disadvantages are the lesser of two evils, the other evil being allowing people to lose their lives because they simply cannot afford health treatments needed.
