Securities trading is a type of financial activity that involves in the transactions of property such as stocks, bonds, commodities, and currencies etc. Primarily it is a stock broker's business who charges a fee to act as mediator between buyer and seller. Stock brokering is becoming a popular career option in India due to the expansion of Indian markets over the decades.

A career in stock brokering can be exciting that involves huge profits as well as huge risks also . A stock broker has to buy and sell stocks or shares in the secondary market on behalf of their clients or investors. He has to be an expert on financial matters having a sound knowledge about market conditions which controls stock prices. It is a risky venture, prices can fluctuate at any time depending on the market conditions.Brokers work on the basis of commissions.

The securities industry has started developing after World War II though the concept was existed much earlier. The coming of new technologies like computers and telecommunications etc has brought much evolution to this field. Securities are composed of equities or debentures of publicly ...

Trading securities includes both the types, debt and equity securities.Trading is normally done through an organized stock exchange, else it can be pursued through direct engagement in purchase and sale transactions with counterparties.

Trading securities are recorded in the balance sheet at their fair value. They are called current asset.

A formal degree is not essential to make a career in this field. But aspirants should have good knowledge in finance or economics. There are courses available in securities and trading for those aim to build careers in this field, from bachelor's upto master’s.   Certificate courses are also there. The Financial Institution Regulatory Authority issues licenses to securities traders.

It requires to have professional experience in a securities firm to be successful in this field. Securities traders are given on-the-job training which helps them later when pursuing a business degree. Experience in sales can also be helpful. Money management skill can work well  for aspiring securities traders.

Job prospects and remuneration are naturally high in this sector. Aspirants holding master's degree are often recruited for higher-level positions who can earn more than those having bachelors degree in the field. Though there is no fixed salary prescribed for stock brokers, yet by working on banking or insurance institutions they can earn upto  50-70k.

You can be a stock broker or a stock trader depending on your interest. A little difference exists between two of them. People enjoy working as stock brokers as it is full of excitements involved, tending naturally to make it a life-long career choice.
