Mysore is one of the most important tourist destinations in the southern state of Karnataka. The place is famous for its palaces and the gardens. It was ruled by the Wodeyars. There are many places of interest in and around the city of Mysore. The Dasara celebrations in Mysore are world famous and people from all over the world come to participate in this festival. The festival is usually held in the month of September/October.

The city has many palaces and royal buildings and supports art and culture in a big way. Srirangapatna, K.R.Sagar dam, Sivasamudram are some of the places of interest around Mysore.
