Spanish is a bit of a complicated language but it's not really that much harder to learn than any other foreign language, save German. There are some tips that you can use to learn Spanish easily and quickly.

First of all, just like what you did with your native language, immerse yourself in Spanish! It was really easy to learn English, actually, because that's all you would hear 24/7. How else could you pick it up so quickly? There are many things you can do in order to accomplish this. For example, listen to the Spanish radio stations on your commute. You don't need to put on your Spanish lessons, take this as the time to get your ears used to the language.

Why not watch the Spanish channel at home? Skip MTV, watch TeleMadrid or EsMadrid TV over the net. Do you like watching E? Why not change countries and watch TVE instead? Go the other way and totally embrace the Spanish culture so that you get more exposure to it.

Make Spanish a habit, and you will easily pick it up. From your music, TV, movies, food choices, etc., surround yourself with everything Spanish.

... perfect sentence or worried that you can't recognize every word in your Spanish book. After all, you were able to read “The Little Engine that Could” without understanding all the words in the book, right? Do you know why? Because you spoke English before you learned to read it.

When you are focused on the reading and writing part, you forget to learn how to speak. And another problem with that is you carry over your American accent into Spanish. If you've noticed Spaniards flinching when foreigners speak their language, that's because it's being pronounced the wrong way.

Just by doing these three basic things, Spanish will quickly become your second language.
