Optimize for your visitors

When creating websites it is very important to make sure your site is not only appealing to yourself but to the people who visit your website. You want to always remember that your visitors are using different resolutions and browsers then what you may be using. I know alot of times in the past I have made this mistake and it cost me alot of time to correct it . A great way to avoid this is to make sure page by page your website will work for the top three resolutions and browsers. You ask how do I know which browsers or resolutions my visitors are using ? The answer is very simple , the first thing you should do on each webpage you create is put Google Analytics on it so you can keep track of all this information to further optimize your site. Then you can find out which resolution is the smallest and put your display into that resolution so you can see if it will look nice to that visitor using that resolution. You also want to check each page you make in a different browser , personally rite now I am only checking with Internet Explorer and Firefox and the resolution I build my sites ...
... for is 1024x768. This resolution alone accounts for 26% of my traffic which means that if I'm getting 100 organic hits from google a day , and I'm building my websites for 1440 x 900 resolutions , that I would ultimately be losing out on 26 people potentially buying a product from one of my websites. This is a very common mistake people make as they just tend to think what fits on their screen will fit on another persons screen, which is silly because the pages width will likely decrease leaving your website looking horrible. So test your websites and make sure they accommodate your visitors and you will make more progress . Another tip for optimizing your websites is making sure each link on your website opens in another tab so your visitors time on your page is longer and they can easily return back to your homepage. You can always make your websites navigation more simple and use proper 'Alt' tags. Little things can make a world of difference , remember , you want your website to revolve around your visitors likings and not your own. Always be open for criticism.
