... about other specific tactics they used to build and strengthen their clients’ online presence, marketers at national and international marketing firms, said they developed a Facebook page for their clients. In fact, 76 percent of the marketers noted that they had designed a Facebook page for their clients. This is not surprising, considering the fact that Facebook reports that it has 500 million active users.

Philadelphia SEO firms and other marketers also measured how long it took for client websites, blogs, social media pages, etc. to load. Additionally, they reviewed and analyzed back links at competitors’ websites, set up client profiles on social media sites like Google Plus.

Local keyword targeting was another tactic that was used. As many as 55 percent of the marketers who responded to the survey said they incorporated this tactic into their marketing efforts.When it came to Google, the king of the search engine world, it was discovered that 63 percent of the survey respondents, a number of them working for top firms, analyze client data using Google Analytics. For example, a marketing specialist or generalist might analyze keywords to use on a website, in a mega tag and/or on a blog post, thereby increasing the chances that their clients’ business will be found by the right web users.

When it comes to online content, articles, social media content and blog posts were frontrunners. In fact, more than 65 percent of the marketers used this type of written content to market their clients’ businesses. Additionally, an increasing number of SEO firms in Philadelphia and abroad are utilizing social media to connect their clients’ with customers who are looking for the types of products and/or services they provide, with Facebook being utilized the most. In fact, 88 percent of the marketers stated that they used Facebook as a marketing tool. Twitter and Google+ followed with 83 and 55 percent, respectively.

These marketers stay abreast of marketing changes impacting the e-commerce and non-profit industries, mainly by attending, workshops, gaining hands-on experience, utilizing online resources and reading books. Approximately 47 percent of the respondents, including those who may work for SEO Philadelphia firms, generalize or wear multiple-hats. Their broad based marketing experience equips them to develop a myriad of marketing strategies for a business. Specialists at the firms zero in on a single task, allowing them to focus on specific action items like building links, creating copy, posting to social media accounts or analyzing return on investment for a company.
