How To Remove And Disable Context Menu Items In Internet Explorer?
You may notice that, since Internet Explorer download and using at the first time, the right click menu in it has become long and long, and included items you don't need or ones that point to nonexistent programs. How to remove the unwanted items from context menu and make it shorter? Is it even possible to disable the whole context menu in IE? Let’s get the answer one by one.
How to remove context menu items in IE?
Registry can help you remove unwanted items from right click menu.
1. In Start Search or Run command box, type “regedit” and hit Enter to run Registry Editor.
2. In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt
3. With the MenuExe registry branch, there are many sub-keys or folders that represent the items or entries in the right click menu of Internet Explorer browser.
4. To remove the menu items, just right click on the target registry keys, and select Delete.

... 5. Restart Internet Explorer, and the deleted right click menu items should be disappeared.
Notice
This trick only can remove IE’s right click menu items which have been added or installed by software application. Some built-in default entries, such as Print, Back, Forward, View Source and etc, cannot be removed.
How to disable the context menu in IE?
If you disable context menu, when right click on a link, image, or background on a webpage in Internet Explorer, there will be no menu out, even you download Internet Explorer and install it again. But you can enable context menu in the reverse way.
Option 1 Setup in Local Group Policy Editor
1. Run: gpedit.msc to launch Group Policy Editor.
2. In the left pane, click on to expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Internet Explorer, and Browser menus.
3. In the right pane, right click on Disable Context menu and click on Edit.
4. To disable Context Menu in Internet Explorer, Select Enabled. To enable Context Menu in Internet Explorer, Select either Not Configured or Disabled.
5. Click on OK to close the Local Group Policy Editor window.
6. Reopen Internet Explorer to check the effect.
Option 2 Create a new registry key
1. In Start Search or Run command box, type “regedit” and hit Enter to run Registry Editor.
2. In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft
3. Create a new key with the name "Internet Explorer" under "Microsoft".
4. Then, create a "Restrictions" key under "Internet Explorer".
5. Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "NoBrowserContextMenu" in "Restrictions" key.
6. Next, right-click on "NoBrowserContextMenu" and modify its value to "1" in the text box. It disables the context menu in Internet Explorer web pages. If you want to get back to the original state, change the value to 0.
7. Once you are done, follow the above steps to create similar registry keys and DWORD value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft.
8. Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.
Note: This tip works on Internet Explorer version 5 and above.
