Procedure For Urinary Incontinence
Childbirth, smoking and old age etc are the reasons for SUI (Stress Urinary Incontinence) in women. The affected women are unable to control urine flow due to weak urethral sphincter. Urine leakage occurs due to laughing, jumping and coughing, etc… and as a result the patients undergo much embarrassment and inconvenience. Women who suffer due to this problem should undergo thorough examination of the pelvic area and adopt suitable remedial measures so that they can be comfortable in their day-to-day life.
Transvaginal tape (TVT) surgery is the common medical treatment for urinary incontinence. The TVT Procedure prolongs up to 45 minutes and is performed under local or general anesthesia. The surgery consists of insertion of a mesh tape in vagina through a small incision. The mesh tape is kept below the urethra and two more incisions are made above the public area. As a resullt of friction among tissues the tape is kept in tact. Gradually the tape gets fixed to the body as a result of growth of tissues in the mesh.
Women who underwent TVT Procedure recover very fast after relaxing for a few hours. The tape ...
... and other incisions are trimmed during the surgery so that they will not protrude from skin. When the patient coughs the mesh can adjust its position. Women who underwent this surgery can return to their normal life routine very quickly. The transvaginal tape ensures complete cure of SUI and the patients can move around and socialize freely without any fear of urine leakage. More than 90% of the affected women are able to get complete relief. The affected women may have to undergo the surgery once in 5 – 10 years. In case any pain during urination, spasms in abdomen or bleeding occurs due to infection after the surgery they must immediately refer the same to the doctor.
Injection of implants, medication and pelvic exercises, etc… is the other methods of treatment for urinary incontinence. In case the patient is not getting relief after all these treatment surgery is performed as the last option. This surgery is not very painful and it causes no other discomforts as well. The patients are advised not to do strenuous tasks for two months after the surgery. They should avoid driving strictly for 15 – 20 days after the surgery. In cases in which the surgery is not carried out in the proper method there can be various health problems in future. Hence it is all the more important to undergo the surgery in a professional hospital that has a proven track record.
