La Gomera is an island under the Canary group of Islands. It is quite unique since it is volcanic hence the landscapes here are quite amusing. A huge part of this island is occupied by the national park Garajonay which is a major attraction to the island. It is a park which is even listed on the UNESCO World Heritage category and therefore a must visit area while on the island for a holiday.

The national park is mainly occupied by subtropical laurel ancient forests which have found the perfect ground here since the climate is wet and cool. Those looking for a laid back, peaceful and quiet kind of holiday will find this spot on the island very pleasant. It is a park which offers great hiking possibilities and great picnic settings. It is a spot that is most ideal for nature lovers as well as those who love some adventure on their holidays.

The Garajonay national park has the Garajonay Mountain which has a high altitude. It is actually the highest point on La Gomera and beautiful views can be enjoyed from here especially on days when the weather is nice and friendly. You will get the chance to view the islands of ...
... Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Palma not forgetting El Hierro from here as well as an over view of the Atlantic Ocean which is simply breathtaking.

On the foot of this mountain there is a forest that is quite dense especially on the drier side where it forms a tree heath and gale. The shrubs grow quite high here and they are very productive since they make it possible to produce pipes. This is because they are not combustible. The northern slopes have laurel forests made of green leafy trees which are also solid and large in size. It is not a wonder that this is the most natural area of the park and every minute spent here should be memorable.

La Gomera national park is also home to numerous bird and plant species as well as beautiful flowers and therefore exploring it becomes even more interesting. You can choose to explore on foot to get more indentified with the natural surroundings thereby giving you the chance to enjoy nature at its best. It is one of the best parks you can visit while in Spain and it definitely worth spending some time in.
