When it comes to airport transfers, New York is one city you definitely need to be concerned about. The airports in the Big Apple are among the busiest ones in the world, so you should have a clear plan for getting to and from the airport, especially if you don't live there year-round. You need someone who can get you where you are going in a timely, efficient manner because they know the streets of New York very well.

An airport limousine service is an excellent choice because it's not much more expensive than a cab and you get the excellent, personal service afforded by having your own driver. The most important thing you can learn about getting to and from the airport in New York is where each of the airports are located. LaGuardia and JFK certainly aren't the only ones! Here are the six airports you should be concerned about:

LaGuardia - Of course this is one of the airports most people think of when they think about New York City. Numerous international flights come in and out of this airport every day. If you're flying to anywhere in Europe, there's a good chance you will fly out ...
... of LaGuardia. This airport sits on the city's north side
John F. Kennedy - This airport is located in Queens just southeast of Lower Manhattan. The Kennedy Airport also handles a lot of international flights, and it's one of the largest airports in the country. You can expect long layovers here, and for good reason. If you're flying out of JFK, you'll need at least three hours to get checked in and arrive at the gate. Four hours may not be such a bad idea either.
Newark Metropolitan Airport - Located just southwest of Midtown Manhattan, this airport was the first major one in the U.S. In most cases, you don't have to deal with the headaches of the high traffic areas in and around LaGuardia and JFK, but there still are plenty of opportunities for congestion here as well.
Westchester County Airport - If you're traveling to the Big Apple's north side, you might consider flying out of Westchester County Airport. It's located north of the central business district in White Plains and provides service to only 15 destinations in the U.S. This airport enjoys even less traffic than Newark, so it's perfect for people who just can't stand the traffic nightmares of large airports.
Long Island MacArthur Airport - Travelers to Suffolk or Nassau counties should consider flying into this airport because it's located right on Long Island. More than three million people fly into or out of MacArthur every year.
Teterboro Airport - Corporate and private planes typically fly through Teterboro Airport, so you probably won't find a flight that lands here. But it is located in New Jersey not far from the state line.

Your best bet for airport transfers in New York is always going to be a private car or limousine. Even if you don't see yourself as someone who travels via a stretch limo, there are several options available that come with their own driver. When you wait in line for a cab, you just don't know what you're going to get, and if you're flying into one of those busier airports, you may have to wait in that line for a very long time. It's much easier to make arrangements for a driver to pick you up and take you to where you need to go, and since a private car isn't much more than a cab (it may even be less on high traffic days when you're sitting still in the cab while the meter is running), you just won't find a better way to get to or from the airport.
