It is the closest airport to Kodaikanal besides airports at Trichy and Coimbatore. The travel time to Madurai from Bangalore by flight is one hour though it takes about three hours to reach Kodaikanal by road from Madurai airport.
The two train services that link Bangalore with Kodaikanal are Nagarcoil Express and Tuticorin Express. Trains to Kodaikanal leave from two stations in Bangalore namely Bangalore city Junction and Krishnarajapuram respectively. The train services are available only till the railway station at Kodai road. A two hour journey by bus or taxi is needed to reach Kodaikanal city from this train station. The Nagarcoil Express Train services are available only on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. However there are train services to Kodaikanal from Bangalore offered by the Tuticorin Express train on a daily basis. The travelling time in train is around 9-10 hours and online booking is also facilitated.
