Bangalore, also rendered as Bengaluru is the capital of the state of Karnataka. It is one of the largest metropolitan cities of the nation. And is a home to many well known educational institutes, IT companies and research institutes. The city celebrates different festivals like Karaga, Pongal, Varamahalakshmi, Ugada, etc. round the year. Read on to know more about the festivals in Bangalore and good hotels in Bangalore.

Karaga Festival
It is celebrated in the month of March-April. Karaga is the name given to earthen pot, symbolizing shakti. A procession is carried out by devotes at night, with the Karaga placed in their heads. The pot balancing on the head is believed to be a test of the strength of a person’s character.

Ugada

Varamahalakshmi
Laksmi puja in Bangalore is widely celebrated as Varamahalakshmi in the month of august. In this Bangalore festival, the ritual is celebrated by married ladies. They make offerings to mother Lakshmi in form of garlands of cash, jewellery and other valuables.

Kadalekaye Parishe
In this Peanut festival, the farmers celebrate the first groundnut crop of the year. The farmers worship at the Bull temple, a 15 feet tall and 20 feet massive statue of a bull carved out of a solid granite block.

Pongal, Dusshera and Diwali is the other popular Bangalore festivals which are celebrated in Bangalore as well as South India.
