When talking about SEO in India, particularly the achieving high rankings in the search engine result pages, insiders are actually referring to two schools of thought White hat and black hat. The companies on the opposite sides of the spectrum couldn’t have been more different in their approach to spring boarding you to the top of the heap in Google, Yahoo or Bing.

What is white hat?

First, what are the stakes? Studies have revealed that consumers and potential clients don’t usually go beyond page 2 in the search engine result pages when they are enter a keyword or phrase for a particular need. When they don’t find what they are looking for in the first couple of pages, they refine their entry instead. If your company is not listed at the top, you are going to find it difficult to bring organic visits to your site. The algorithms employed by search engines to comb the World Wide Web for noteworthy sites also serve as a kind of rule for companies to follow. An SEO in India practicing ‘white hat’ will abide by these rules and instead focus on the content and substance of the site. In this instance, ...
... the online marketing campaign relies heavily on good content to attract traffic.

What about black hat?

In contrast, the SEO in India that practices ‘black hat’ approach is more focused on improving the technology and taking advantage of the loopholes in the search engine algorithm with the same intention of driving traffic. To be clear, these practices are not illegal per se because there’s nothing in all the laws that will penalize you if you violate the terms of service of the search engines. So in this type of method, your website will remain as is—bad content and all—because all the tweaking and modification are done in the background. Among the surreptitious tools they employ are cloaking, creating multiple sites, hidden links and keyword stuffing.

Why white hat is better?

The company that practices ‘white hat’ will instead look at your website and study the content. Could the problem be too much clutter? Overused videos, Flash animation or Java Script? Not updated regularly? Are the articles boring and technical enough to make it very difficult for an ordinary person to understand just what your website is about? Look for an SEO India that will offer to make your content very appealing and interesting. Remember, you are not only targeting the search engines but people as well.
