Unlike the earlier times, today if you feel bored to see the same old colour of the floors in your office or at home then you have several options available to you to dispose of it. Thanks to all these floor coatings, floor painting and such other means, giving a new look to your home or office space is only a matter of picking up the phone. Covering the old and gray colored floorings in your home is easy and some months back I too was taken aback to see the way my friend helped me to give an innovative look to my new flat. As far as my own view regarding the internal home or office arrangements is concerned, well I too feel that change is always a good thing and particularly if your eyes feel tired of seeing the same old thing time and again then it’s a better option to furnish your room decoration with various means of floor beautification.
Many of you may be aware of the fact that the porous surface of any concrete floor allows soluble contaminants and water to penetrate through a particular flooring structure, ultimately resulting into premature degradation. Now this degradation of concrete flooring manifests in ...
... efflorescence or physical defects like cracking and spilling. Concrete floor coatings are just perfect to protect the floor from various means of degradation by providing chemical, abrasion and freeze/thaw protection. Typical coatings are mostly used for concrete floors that also include acrylics, polyurethanes, epoxies or specialized elastomeric coatings etc. However, before applying any new coatings to your floor just make sure that the ingredients are free from any chemical reactions that can cause significant damage to the floors. Industrial epoxy floor coatings are beneficial in order to maintain a safe, durable concrete surface besides providing it with a new and improved look.
Acrylic coatings/sealers are quite thick and applied 2 or 3 mm per coat. Generally these coatings are either water based or solvent based components. Solvent based acrylic sealers and materials are used in external applications whereas the water based acrylic sealers are mostly used in interior applications. Different types of epoxy coatings are used for coating concrete. Typical Epoxy paints, Epoxy resins etc are multi component materials having polyamide or amine curing compounds. Polyamide epoxies are best known for possessing better flexibility and irrigate resistance, whereas amine-cured epoxies provide better chemical resistance power. Epoxy systems are thoroughly applied in 2-3 coats at a thickness of several mm. Novolac epoxies are mostly applied to provide chemical resistance.
Last but not the least, if you really want to enhance the lifespan of your flooring then you have to take guidance from the right people who knows the complex details of the subject; i.e. epoxy coatings need to be top-coated with a finish coat of resin while the polyurethane coatings need to be properly blended with cement-sand matrix to produce a ultra durable polyurethane concrete flooring.
