Importance Of Satsang In Modern Age Of Machine

In this age of Machines, Satsang is considered as an unintellectual process of living. The reason behind that is that there are so many misconceptions prevailing in the society regarding it. Here is the scientific answerto all those misbeliefs that wrongly conceptualize the scientific processes of Kirtan described in the Vedas as a waste of time.

The world in which we are living today is a world of Machines. Machines and Human-beings have developed such a close relationship that the humansare becoming like machines(intellectual) and the machines are becoming like humans (emotional)! Such a human, who is fully immersed in articulating machines (Smart phones, Computers, Tablet PCs etc.) in his daily life, when he comes across Spirituality, a quite obvious question arises in his mind: what is the use of Satsang in this Hi-Tech world of technology? This question arises due to many misconceptions regarding Spirituality. Let us explore the answer by conceptualizing it in a proper way.

When Vedic Scriptures talk about spirituality, they mean much more than we visualize. Thinking in a deep and profound way, Satsang means ...
... ‘association with the Eternal’. Now, so far as eternity is concerned, the Soul and Maya (Primal Energy of Cosmos) also fall in this category. But, the Soul is eternally steady; without undergoing the process of increment or loss. Maya is eternally changing in a kaleidoscopic manner. From an atom to the entire universe, not a single moment is there when this cosmos is not changing. Thus, association of these two Eternals would not suffice our inner urge of such an eternity which is ever-increasing. Hence, hankering after eternally changing material objects/persons, or being situated only in self-realization will not fulfill our inherent demand. Associatingonly with God, the Source of Soul and Maya, will make our thirst of ever-increasing Bliss come to an end, because God is the ocean of Divine Bliss.

The question is how to establish an association with God? Well, the simplest method is to performKirtan. This process is madelimited by conceptualizing it as a singing of a song related to God. But in the subtle sense, any process that glorifies the almighty God is Kirtan of God. At the end of that process, a strong connection gets established between the Soul and God, whichstarts to cease the bondage of Maya.

The more enhanced form of this process is Bhajans which literary means ‘to serve the Supreme’. Again, this process is often identified with that of Kirtan in its usual meaning. But, the process of Bhajans is so subtle that it can be pervaded in all of our daily activities from the simplest to the complex. Simply speaking,Bhajans mean consuming fruits of our actions, as far as possible, for the sake of service to God.

Thus, one can see how simple and yet how powerful and scientific the processes are that help establish a strong and everlasting connection between the Soul and God. The importance of Vedic Knowledge is still relevant in this Machine Age.
