The island of Barbados is generally referred to as the "Little England" of the Caribbean. The island offers a lot of notable English traditions, such as the ever-popular afternoon tea sessions, the lively cricket games and the British-accent spoken by most locals. This lovely island is located on the eastern-most segment of the Caribbean. The place also offers a wide array of activities, ranging from relaxing in secluded white-sand beaches, to savoring the delicacy and gourmet pleasures of locals, as well as basking in the wide variety of restaurants and night spots that abound in this truly exciting destination.

The Caribbean is well-known for its lovely beaches and dive spots and the island of Barbados offers long stretches of pristine white-sand beaches. On any given day, one should be able to notice a diverse mix of tourists and locals who frequent the beaches to relax, have a picnic or play sporting activities. Probably the most popular beachfront destination in the island is in Accra Beach. This area is particularly filled with a lot of people although it doesn't feel crowded or cramped. In Accra you'll ...
... see sunbathers, kids swimming with their parents, adults playing football or volleyball on the sand and lots of picnics and frolicking in shoreline.

If a beach full of other tourists is not your type, then don't worry! The island has a lot of lovely, secluded beaches where you can relax, contemplate, and simply let go of your stress. You may wish to head off to secluded Cattle-wash Beach, located on the island's east coast, or to Haywards Beach in the north. These beach destinations have pristine white-sand, clear waters and offer stunning views of the island. After a relaxing and soothing day at the beaches, it's time to head off to other points of interest in the island. You could head off to North Point, located in the parish of St. Lucy, and see the amazing sights of the island's cliffs. In North Point, you could take pictures of the spectacular views, have a picnic, read a novel or simply relax and immerse yourself in basking at the wonderful views of the ocean.

The island also offers visitors a delightful sampling of great food and exciting nightlife activities. You could head off to the small town of Oistins in Christ Church, and savor the grilled specialties offered on its weekly fish fry night. Along with having a healthy sampling of grilled fish and seafood, the place is also an exciting party destination, where you'll find outdoor grills and restaurants that offer diverse food choices and live music as well. You could also try dancing, as the town's DJ's spin their medley of modern dance and lively island music. This place surely is a must for those who want to dine and have fun at the same time. The restaurants, lounges, cafes, bistros and nightclubs on Saint Lawrence Gap are also must-visit spots for the adventurous. There you'll hear a cacophony of lively reggae, soca, hip hop and salsa music. It is a perfect spot for those who have an active nightlife, as well as for those who simply want to sit down, drink a couple of juices or beer and see the sights.

While there a lot of activities in store for the intrepid and adventure-seeker type, the island of Barbados nevertheless, is also a perfect spot for those who wish to get away from the hassles of urban living and wish to have their own calm and peaceful island retreat. Generally, the island's south coast is relatively well-known for its diverse offering of clubs, restaurants, cafes and discos while the island's east coast remains relatively tranquil and laid-back. In this area, those wishing to relax and recharge their bodies, can lie on a hammock, sip some tea or juice, and feel the soft and refreshing Atlantic breeze. You may also wish to drop by the area's other natural attractions such as the Andromeda Botanical Garden, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, Farley Hill National Park and Harrison's Cave as well.
