How To Remove Stickers From Surfaces At Home
Stickers can be pretty annoying and tough to remove but this doesn't mean that it is impossible to deal with them. Sure, they are cute and colourful but there comes a time when you have to clean that surface and the stickers are only standing in your way. But don't lose hope just yet for I have prepared some useful tips on how to remove stickers from various surfaces such as glass, polished wood, metal, and plastic.
Removing stickers from plastic surfaces is probably the easiest. You will often encounter unwanted stickers on pieces of hardware such as new laptops, tablets, smart phones and so on. According to one of London's most popular companies that provides cleaning services, stickers should be removed as soon as possible because if they stay for too long they can cause some troubles. Over time, the stickers will dry up and the sticky part will separate from the printed image – that's when things get bad. If the sticker is still fresh you can just peel off one corner with your nails and then completely remove it. If the sticker's been “sticking ...
... around” for too long then you'll probably have to deal with the annoying dried on glue.
It's a common mistake to try to scratch it off with something edgy but that is exactly what you shouldn't do – you could scratch the surface you're trying to free from the annoying sticky build up. What you need is a cleaning solution that will dissolve the glue so you could easily wipe it off. In my experience, rubbing alcohol does a great job but there are various alternatives you can try. Nail polish remover for instance also does a good job. There's this cleaning myth that hairspray is good against greasy stains as well as the sticky residue left from stickers but I do not recommend this method. Another cleaning myth involves the use of something greasy like margarine or mayonnaise but that just sounds ridiculous to me. If you think that it is worth the shot then please, go ahead and try it – the rest of the world would like to know more about your attempt to clean with mayonnaise.
According to cleaners in London, the sticky residue can be removed with lighter fluid. Just dampen an old rag with lighter fluid and start rubbing the spot gently. Eventually, the sticky build up will loosen up and you will be able to wipe it of successfully. Like I said, removing stickers from plastic services is easy but with metal and glass surfaces is no different. On the other hand, removing stickers from polished wood will give you nightmares. A sentient being won't purposely stick anything to a polished wood surface so my guess is that kids are involved. Once again, you need to peel off the sticker with your fingers as much as you can and clean the spot with something that can dissolve the glue. The problem is that you have no idea how the cleaning solution will react when it comes in contact with the fine polish of the surface. You might have to re-coat the surface with polish when you're done with the cleaning procedure.
