Interesting Festivals In Spain
Spain has interesting traditions and cultures and taking part or witnessing the events is one of the best ways to learn more about the country and its rich culture. The festivals are most interesting and they are held in different regions, cities and towns at different times of the year in that it is highly possible that you will have the chance to witness one while on a holiday in the country,
Castellers La Merce: this festival takes place in Barcelona every 24th of September and stands for human towers hence it is very interesting. During the 24th week you will also find other numerous and wonderful activities as the Our Lady of Mercy festivity takes place. The festival is colorful and amusing in its own way as the locals show what they are made of.
San Isidro Fiesta: this interesting festival is held in Barcelona from 2nd to the 15th of May even though the main celebrations are on the 2nd. They are meant to celebrate San Isidro saint patron and the locals take part in outdoor dances. ... a bullfight that has world fame is also held.
San Joan Festival: this festival takes place in Menorca Balearic Islands and is quite outstanding in the calendar of the islands. It takes place within the town of Ciutadella in Mernoca and is said to be the most eye catching and colorful of all festivals in Spain. It is characterized by star horses of Mernoca and some of the best riders. It is held from the 23rd to the 24th of June.
Feria de Abril: this colorful festival takes place in Seville annually during the month of April and is quite outstanding. During the celebration day, beautiful horses take over the fairgrounds on them the most experienced riders. The horses come complete with drawn carriages for this amazing traditional parade. In the evening, large tents are put up and in them dances and music are enjoyed, barcelona.
St. John Bonfires: this festival takes place on the 29th of June in Alicante Costa Blanca and is a colorful fun filled event of the year. The summer event is characterized by St. John’s day cardboard figures and fireworks. The bonfires are lit and they are referred to as La Hogueras and they showcase the city’s life and the streets turn into entertainment grounds complete with lively processions, parades and makeshift booths also known as barracas.
