Application Delivery Controllers To Optimize Web And Application Infrastructure
Many common web and network enabled application platforms are fragile and unstable and suffer from performance problems despite the best efforts of application developers. Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs) have arisen from the need to enhance the performance and reliability of traditional web applications. With the advent of virtualization, public and private clouds, the explosion in mobile traffic and the move towards new standards, a modern application delivery controller must provide performance and scalability.
As businesses collect, store and access more and more data, servers need to take on more and heavier data loads, and it becomes necessary to find cost-effective ways to ensure uptime and speed. Employing an ADC solution to ensure proper traffic management and optimize web and application performance is one way to stay ahead of the curve - and avoid the downtime that can severely injure a company. An application delivery controllers adjusts the network conditions to accommodate changes in application environment; ...

Successful networked application delivery requires a framework that consists of planning, optimization, management and control. The ADC adjusts the network conditions to accommodate changes in application environment; or manage access, availability, and performance of applications when the network fluctuates. By leveraging ADCs to optimize web and application infrastructure while streamlining IT costs, it is possible to enhance performance by distributing traffic among multiple servers. The primary functionality of an ACD is server load balancing, and by accepting traffic on behalf of servers, ADCs decides on a server to which the traffic will be forwarded.
In the event of a server failing, the ADC can identify the same with the help of a built-in monitor. Once detected, the ADC will not send any traffic till the problem in the server is rectified. With deep traffic inspection ADCs can be programmed to inspect every response. A request can be retried against a different server to ensure that it will give a more correct response in case anything problematic indentified. With an ADC the service will continue to run even if several machines were to fail completely.
An application delivery controller can enhance reliability of the network through monitoring and traffic inspection. Look for a solution that can provide performance and scalability to ensure maximum efficiency and ROI. When choosing an ADC, IT organizations should pay the most attention to the ability of the ADC to have all features turned on and still support the peak traffic load, as this is what determines the ability of the ADC to cost effectively support exponential traffic growth.
