How To Reach From Bangalore To Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is a tranquil hill station set amidst the Palani Hills in Tamil Nadu that is a much sought after travel destination among urbanites in Bangalore. Kodaikanal is known for its natural beauty and is situated at a height of 7,200 feet above sea level. Kodaikanal is fringed by the high mountains of Western Ghats that is abundant in pristine valleys and tumbling waterfalls. Kodaikanal owing to its serene beauty is a much favoured honeymoon destination too.
The region is bordered by the pristine valleys of Parappur and Gundar and is dotted with many interesting sightseeing spots and attractions. ... here, Kodaikanal Lake is perhaps one of the most famous. The Kodaikanal lake is a man-made lake and is shaped like a star. Tourists can indulge in a variety of activities in and around the lake. Various types of boats are available for tourists who like to indulge in boating in the lake here. For others, cycling and horse riding along the perimeter of the lake are interesting options to pass time. A trip to Bryant Park, which is a well maintained botanical garden adorned with over 325 species of trees, shrubs and cacti is another attraction here.
For those planning a trip from Bangalore to Kodaikanal, which is set apart by a distance of about 465 km, there are many transport options available. The hill station is well-connected to Bangalore by roads, rails and by air. Among all these options, the best is by road which takes about 8 hours and goes through the following major towns like Hosur, Krishnagiri, Gundalapatti, Salem, Thadikombu and Kodaikanal. The route is excellent and has many eateries along the way. Driving to Kodaikanal is another excellent option and gives one more flexibility in terms of the time allotted for food stops. Hire a cab in case the long drive doesn’t seem too appealing. Cabs charge anywhere between INR 15 to 25 depending upon the type of vehicle chosen.
Madurai is the closest airport to Kodaikanal, which is situated about 126 km away and takes about two and a half hours to reach. There are no direct trains available from Bangalore to Kodaikanal and so train journey is not recommended.
