Gaining and acting upon customer feedback is important to any business. It helps ensure that you are on the right track and that your clients truly benefit from the services or products that you offer them. It offers you the chance to improve on your current customer satisfaction levels by first discovering which areas are in need of improvement. The suggestion box can be used in many settings and it can also be used for other purposes, including the collection of surveys or competition forms.

The suggestion or comment box is effectively used for data collection and the type of data it collects is ultimately down to you and your customers. Leave the box by the exist along with comments or suggestion cards. Encourage your customers to complete surveys and place them in the box or offer access to free email newsletters and offers for those that leave their personal details including contact details.

Customer feedback is very important. A comment box enables customers to leave comments when they are moved to do so. Typically, this means that they are given the opportunity to complete some very basic ...
... details about themselves and then write a few words on the experience they enjoyed or endured. If you want access to more specific information and you potentially want to encourage a greater number of people to participate you can collect surveys.

Of course, not all suggestions necessarily come from customers and clients. The box can also be used as an employee suggestion box which encourages your team members to leave ideas and comments about the company. You can leave commenters to post anonymously or give the opportunity to include details should follow up or credit be due.

The suggestion box is only useful if you act on the suggestions that are left. Regularly collect the information and find some way to store and collate the information you receive. Using questionnaires or surveys can give you more detailed information rather than simply encouraging a single sentence. The box can be used for collecting promotion cards, competition entries, and employee suggestions too, and there’s no need to limit a single box to a single type of card.
