Student’s Guide And Admission Procedure For Ignou Openmat
Introduction
IGNOU is the ‘People’s University’ that provides wide programs and courses at various regions of the country. For the programs like MBA, PGDIM, PGD in HRM, OM, FM, and MM can be done by obtaining the required scores in the OPENMAT, which is conducted all over the country as per the schedule declared by the university. The test is conducted twice every year.
Eligibility criteria
A person who is a non graduate can also get admission here only if he clears the IGNOU OPENMAT. However, one should have passed the 12th board exam to appear for the OPENMAT. The candidate can be of any age for any of the courses or programs offered. The students who have cleared the CAT or the MAT entrance exam will be exempted from the OPENMAT. Candidate with 50 percent marks in graduation from the general category and 45% of the reserved category are eligible for admission
About IGNOU OPENMAT
The admission in IGNOU MBA is based on the scores of the IGNOU OPENMAT entrance exam. The entrance exam is held for 3 hours and consists of 200 multiple choice questions from 4 sections like:
1. Section ...
... A- 30 question of general awareness, which is based on general knowledge in technology, history, world, current affairs etc.
2. Section B – English language – 50 questions about contents of passages, related pairs, alternative words, grammar etc.
3. Section C- Quantitative aptitude – 50 questions on aptitude questions that can show your skills, arithmetic, analyzing etc.
4. Section D – Reasoning – 70 questions on reasoning that is based on psychological studies, cognitive knowledge, problem solving, probability judgment, decision making, conceptual thinking etc.
Important dates
The last date for the receipt of handbook and the prospectus will be 30th June 2012. The forms should reach the registrar by July 15 2012. The handbook and the prospectus can be obtained from all the regional centers in the country or from IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi – 110068. A sum of 550/- through a DD or the IPO should be paid to the IGNOU. The forms can be downloaded from their website and submitted to the regional center.
For the walk in admission, candidates should submit the registration form and the hall ticket of the entrance test to the regional centers (those who qualify). The form is available in the prospectus and ethe studnt handbook. The fee should also be paid along with the form for the admission of the commencing academy year on January 2013.
