Bangalore is considered as the ideal gateway to India. It has everything to satiate the appetite of travellers. The city has natural parks, lakes, architectural landmarks and research institutions. In the recent past, Bangalore has become a major centre of information technology.

Among the major attractions in Bangalore are Bangalore Palace, Tipu Sultan Palace, Ulsoor Lake, Hebbal Lake, St. Mary's Church, Dargah Hazarat Tawakkal, Bull Temple, Shri Nimishamba Devi Temple and ISKCON Temple. Other tourist destinations included Vidhan Soudha, Lalbaugh, Cubbon Park, Ashoka Pillar, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Film City and the prestigious Indian Institute of Science.

The distance from Bangalore to Munnar, a hill station in Kerala, is nearly 750 km. By air, the travellers will have to first catch a flight to Kochi from Bangalore and then go to Munnar by bus or a cab. Munnar is around 125 km from Kochi. From Kochi Airport (Nedumbassery), taxi services are available which might cost around Rs. 3000 to reach Munnar.

If the travellers go by train from Bangalore, they have to either get down at Aluva (110 km ...
... from Munnar) or Ernakulam (125 km from the hill station). There are several express and superfast trains passing through Aluva and Ernakulam. State Transport and private buses and cabs are available from both Aluva and Ernakulam to reach Munnar.

The drive by car from Kochi to Munnar takes nearly three hours and 30 minutes. Although the road is smooth (NH 49), it is narrow, twisty and curvy. Kothamangalam is on the way and is 80 km away from Munnar. Between Kothamangalam and the next town 'Adimali', the drive is through a natural forest. There are many waterfalls on the way. Munnar is just 30 km from Adimali but it takes almost an hour to reach the hill station.

Alternately, travellers can go from Bangalore to Munnar en route Coimbatore. In that case, they have to catch a flight or train to Coimbatore and then go to Munnar by road. Munnar is about 160 km from Coimbatore. The road journey from Coimbatore passes through Pollachi, Udumalpet, Chinnar and Marayoor. This route is scenic though it takes a bit longer time to reach Munnar.

Munnar, earlier summer resort of Britishers, has several tourist destinations like waterfalls, rivulets, winding lines and sprawling tea plantations. Tourist destinations included Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Lake and Chinnakanal and Atukkad Waterfalls. Munnar is the land of the unique blue flower Neelakurinji. The flower blooms only once in 12 years. The next blooming of the flower is expected in 2018.

All types of accommodation, luxury, mid-range and budget, are available in Munnar. The best time to visit Munnar is from August to March. The summer months of April and May are also pleasant.
