The PGA tournament stands for Professional Golfers Association tournament and is an annual event conducted by the Professional Golfers Association of America in the United States and North America. It is one of the four major championships that are held in professional golf. It is the last of the tournament in a golf season and is referred to as “Glory's Last Shot” for the same reason.
History and Facts of PGA Tournament
The first professional golf event dates back to 1894. However, the first PGA Championship was held later in 1916 at Siwanoy Country Club in Eastchester, New York. Winning the PGA Tournament
Winning the tournament gives a golfer special privileges. PGA champions by default are invited to play in the other three majors namely Masters, U.S. Open, and the Open Championship for five years from the year of winning. They are exempted from qualifying for the championship for life. They get memberships on the PGA and European golf tournament for the following five seasons and invitations to The Players Championship for five years. The PGA Championship has been conducted in various venues over a period of time but now they are organized only in celebrated and famous selective courses.
