Civil Engineering is one of the wide spread engineering stream dealing with Designs, construction and maintenance of various infrastructures. The necessary facilities for the modern life are taken as the main aim of the Civil Engineers.

It includes the supervision of various man made as well as natural construction. Some of the works taken are making of highways, bridges, tunnels, roadways, dams and many more infrastructures. Even the launching of some satellites is included.

This has been discovered since the very long time before. In early times, there was no specific difference between architecture and this engineering. But by now, they are distinguished at various points. The streams are categorized and education is provided on their bases.

The very first college for the Civil Engineering courses is started in year 1819 in US. It’s known as Norwich University. After it, many Universities were opened in different parts of the world. They are still running as private universities.

The academic degrees in this field are obtained by large number of students. To complete the degree, nearly four or five are needed. Its completed form is designated as the Bachelor of Engineering. The subjects that are to be studied are physics, mathematics, design, project management and some particular topics set according to different colleges.

Once the degree is complete, a student can further select only one subject in which he wants to do specialisation. The graduated candidates are getting jobs in industries. They also have the option to do their specialisation by taking admissions in post graduation classes. Some of the colleges are providing this facility.

The sub-courses that are added under the Civil Engineering are the engineering of Coastal, Construction, Earthquake, Environmental, Geotechnical, Water Resource, Materials, Structural, Surveying, Transportation and Municipal or Urban.

One has to select the sub-course and move ahead for its degree. As we know, this is the only diverse professional engineering. The increment in number of jobs is seen as the demand for infrastructure is increasing worldwide.

To complete the projects, skilled engineers are needed. Good education and selection of Universities matters a lot. In India, there are numerous Universities, Colleges and Institutes that are providing students with good skill.
